Kingsport Grocery Co. opens for business
massage chair KINGSPORT — The Kingsport Grocery Co. restaurant is now open.
Located at 453 E. Main St. in downtown Kingsport, the restaurantoffers New York-style pizza, gourmet “Beefalo Burgers”and sandwiches, and 55 American and international microbrewerybeers. The list includes microbrews not offered in the regionbefore, and the restaurant will be growing those offerings to morethan 100 microbrews in a few weeks.
Kingsport Grocery Co. is another initiative of Adapt Core Inc.,founded by Doug Beatty, Jeff Lane, and Kanishka Biddanda, whoseprojects include 12 Bones Smokehouse on Main Street, The StateTheater on Broad Street, and the Thursday night Twilight Alivedowntown concert series.
“Our goals are simple. We want to provide our community anice but relaxed environment to enjoy really tasty food at fairprices,” Biddanda said.
He said it’s important to Adapt Core to use locally grownproduce when possible. “It helps to support our local economyand it allows us to provide even fresher and healthier items on ourmenu,” he said.

Pipkin Massage Therapy
KINGSPORT — Dianna Pipkin recently opened a massage therapypractice at Hair Flair, 5334 Fort Henry Drive, Kingsport.
Pipkin was the first licensed massage therapist in Johnson City in1985, and practiced there until 1989, when she moved to Florida.She returned to the area in 1999, and was re-certified in massagetherapy last year.
Pipkin attended Reflections of Health School of Massage in JohnsonCity in 2007 and passed the National Certification Board forTherapeutic Massage and Bodywork in November 2007. She was licensedby the state of Tennessee in December 2007. Pipkin is a member ofthe American Massage Therapy Association.
Pipkin said she is working to establish massage therapy as apreventative therapeutic process in the workplace by offering chairmassages in workplaces in the region. “Onsite massage canreduce work-related stress; improve alertness, performance andproductivity,” she said.
She also offers 15-minute chair massage as well as 30-minute andone-hour Swedish massage sessions at her office.
